Who: Chrome
When: T-10 seconds to emotional whiplash
What: Worlds crumble and she ends up...not home. Again.

It happened between one breath and the next. She'd been in the eternal Autumn of her old new-world performing a leap during spear practise, and come down on concrete hard enough to make her stumble and bash her knee. That wasn't what had her sit on the ground and cry, however. She wept because reaching for healing magic failed but her power boiled up at her touch. Her power took the place of the Elo to keep her alive, her power allowed her to cover her scars, her power. Illusion at her fingertips and joy in her heart...yet Mukuro was still not here. Her mind was still bleeding out for him, and that mitigated her joy and made her sorrow.

So she wept, both in joy and in sorrow, while playing illusions around herself on the ground.

"He didn't," she shrugged easily. "We're not at all a functional family." Not even the parts that tried really. "So I guess it's okay." And she was doing better now really?

"All that aside, now I'm here with a stranger in a rather disturbingly empty city. This is...a new one on me."

"I wish it was for me." Chrome said, "I prefer this time, though. Last time the stranger was trying to kill me. Or rape me. I'm honestly not sure which. Maybe both? He'd raped the me of that time, although she was older than I am."

What exactly was anyone suppose to say to that? "I promise I have no desire to attack you?" So at least she was better company at the moment? "The one who shot me was a time traveler. It didn't do good things to his head I think. You didn't even trip on the vernacular though."

She smiled up at Vanya, a sweet and innocent smile that really wasn't anything like reality anymore. She was younger than she'd been, but innocence doesn't return. "That's good. I really prefer making friends and allies to making enemies. I'm, hmm. Well, at home we'd say I'm a Mist user. That's illusions. It's also referring to a certain kind of mental flexibility that makes for really good spies. I'm not a genius - I know one, but I'm not one - but I'm really good at landing on my feet. So to speak."

Luckily she'd had a weird enough life that she didn't have the kneejerk reaction of trusting such looks left in her. "It's a bit more stable in the long run," she agreed, vaguely amused. "And mental flexibility should be a super power," she laughed. "It really should. It would help so many of the power crowd."

So, so many. Or maybe just her family, who knew what she was even talking about anymore?

Anyway. Um. "Is it just me or is there half a bleeding cow in the street ahead?" If only she was seeing, well, she'd try to puzzle out what her brain was trying to tell her about littering laws later? I fit wasn't just her, well, who, or what, had the other half of the cow?

Chrome let the mental flexibility bit drop since she agreed with Vanya entirely in favour of looking at the dead thing in the road, "I don't know...are cows usually that hairy? I mean, that's definitely a dead animal but..." that looked really shaggy.

Spear time. Absolutely spear time.

"Okay, maybe it's a water buffalo..." she mused, edging toward it to look it over. "Ripping and tearing, something chewed on it I think. Great, we've got Godzilla in an empty city."

"Godzilla wouldn't leave anything." Chrome murmured, shaking her head, "Can you fight? If so I can make you a weapon. If not...stay out of my way, but within sight, and I can keep a shield around you to keep you safe." Of course she would keep Vanya safe. She didn't want to be alone.

"Ah, movies I saw as a kid had him as a messy eater." Probably because there hadn't been much of an exit for the mouth in a rubber suit but hey. Her question drew a sad, high little chuckle, "I'm a weapon. As is I wouldn't have a lot of accuracy though, get me a violin to put a regulator on things?"

"It would be very hard to not eat a whole person if you were that big." she said with a wry shake of her head, "Ah, I don't know a violin well enough to make one. So just stay out of the way if you can." then looking up, "If it helps any I pretty much am too, even if it's by training rather than anything else."

"That's true, but we also don't know how big this thing was originally. Those aren't hooves." Huh. She had no more ideas really. Wooly mammoth bison thing? "If it gets bad and I say duck, duck?"

"Huh?" she was confused for a moment, "I meant Godzilla." Chrome shrugged again, "I'll do my best, if I need to. Just...ah, shout really loud? Adrenaline."

"...so did I. In that 'no telling if the thingy is Godzilla sized since we don't know how large the snack was initially' kind of way." Yay confusion to the...monster hunters?

"Don't worry, I can project when needed."

"Oh." she thought about that for a moment, and nodded, "That makes more sense, although I think...this kind of looks like half an animal? Not that it really matters, Godzilla being a story."

"Yeah, unless it was segmented or something." Who knew? Anyway. "And now we have mist. Creepy mist. I'm so glad I came out of a coma for this." Yup.

That shiver? That felt like Jurassic Park. "If it's a dinosaur I want to keep a claw."

"It doesn't look segmented." Chrome said, standing up and frowning, "Mist is just mist. Don't worry about it, okay Vanya-san? There are more tangible things to worry about. Like..."

Like a fucking T-rex. Of course it was a T-rex. Could it be any more cliche? She stared at it for a moment less in awe and more in extreme annoyance. "at least I know how to use my flames to fly." was the incredibly bitchy mumble.

"And at least it's tall enough I can aim high or low and miss you entirely if necessary," she mused, tilting her head to look the large lizard over. "Though you've got illusion powers, want to get it to chase something edible until we find a nice bridge to drop on it?" Seemed a bit more energy efficient really?

"Granted, it did just eat...but I read they're motion sensitive and might just cahse movement in general."

"Lets give it a shot." she said, twisting illusion until she and Vanya were invisible and in audible before tossing out the illusion of a large, lumbering lizard-thing. "Does this look tasty?" she wondered, "How does the dinosaur look?"

"...I'd...go with something you know better? Give it a cow, I don't think it'll care if it's suppose to be prey it knows as long as it moves."

"I've never seen a cow in real life either." she muttered, but the dinosaur morphed into a cow that toddled off in the direction they'd decided to take the T-rex, "Let me know if I need to do something else."

"Yeah, but photos are accurate, where T-rex imagery is hypothesis," she countered almost distractedly as she watched the dinosaur tilt it's head before roaring at the retreating cow and heading in that direction.

Wow. She had to put a hand on her strings to still the buzzing from that sound. "Granted a real cow probably would have just had a heart attack."

"True." she allowed, "Lets go!" it was fun to watch this thing wander off after her illusion. "Hopefully it doesn't decide to wander off before we find a good place to kill it."

"Run little cow runnnn!" she laughed, picking up the pace to follow the dinosaur. "Hopefully! It seems really intent on chasing at least?"

Chrome trotted along beside Vanya, "Well, predators like to kill and eat things. So there's that." the cow mooed in alarm and started running. "This is, like, the marathon runner of cows."

"Super cow," she agreed. "Any cow we meet in real life will pale in comparison, poor things." Though the likelihood of meeting a real cow in a city was...

...wait there was a T-rex in the city. Anything was possible. "A shrink ray would be awesome because a house rex would be kind of amazing."
