I've had enough of different worlds

Who: Sheena Fujibayashi
When: Right after arrival
What: Rudely interrupted from trying to finish a mission

One minute, Sheena had been running across a grassy field, on her way to Meltokio to meet up with Zelos and exchange information-

And next she was in a strange city she had never seen before. Considering she had gone from flying cities to ones in the middle of the Ymir Forest, saying this place was strange was saying something.

Drawing out her spell cards, Sheena looked around, eyes narrowing. Her senses were high and her brown eyes narrowed. There was something...strange in the air. Something was off and she couldn't place it but it worried her.

But she was strong; she had been through more than her fair share of weird things and whether it be an angel hell bent on destroying all living beings, or demons from the underworld, Sheena was ready.

A noise sounded behind her and she turned quick as a flash, her ninja senses taking focus.

"Come out, whoever is there!"

Sheena looked at the child, her stern expression faltering a bit as the child reminded her of those in Luin.

"I...am new to...wherever this is."

She made no mention that she had no idea what the hell a gas station was, but she cocked her head.

"Talking bugs?"

"This is a giant city! I'm calling it Flea-opolis right now! Annnnd it's mostly empty which is really weird but hey you're here now and did you bring any bugs? Like in your clothes or on your boots or anything?"

What? He liked bugs. "Oh, right, Hi! I'm The Flea!" since he was in costume and all. "I talk to bugs. Isn't that awesome?!"

An empty town? With strange occurrences and strange people...

Dear Sylph, why did this crap always happen? At least the kid seemed nice. She lowered her tense stance and smiled in his direction.

"Nice to meet you, Flea. I'm Sheena. How long have you talked to bugs?"

"Is that a code name?Does it mean you're shiny? Sheeenaaaaa, or maybe you're an alien princess, yeah, I bet that's it!" Totally, like a ninja princess or something! The city kidnapped interesting people right? Right.

"All my life! It's one of my powers!"

"Ah, well it's sort of a code name. But it's the name everyone knows me by," she said with a smile.

"But I'm no alien. So do you, ah...like talking to bugs?"

"Everyone knows me as The Flea! I have a totally secret Identity! Except from my parents, they know, but I've never slipped, not even once!" It helped he went to a school where costumes and secret identities were awesome! "Though okay I admit I used my secret identity as a disguise once but that was Vegas!" TOTALLY A WEIRD PLACE.

"Awww, aliens are cool!" They were, no denying that! "And yeah, they're awesome! And smarter than a lot of kids I know! And they help me fight badguys!"

What the hell was a Vegas? But the kid seemed excited and Sheena cracked a wider smile.

"Well you seem like a really smart kid. How long have you been here?"

Vegas was the BEST TOWN because they welcomed super heroes and had singing socks! SINGING SOCKS?! HOW COOL WAS THAT?!

"And yeah, I'm totally smart! I get most B's and higher though I kinda got a C in magical theory because it's boring and makes my ears itch you know? Ummm, maybe three days? I think I totally missed my essay due date! Good thing I didn't do it huh?!"

"Three days on your own? You must be very brave," Sheena replied before chuckling at the boy's enthusiasm.

"You know you remind me of my friend Lloyd. He doesn't really like doing school work either, but he's probably no where near as smart as you are."

"Nah, there's other people here though I could totally have done it alone"! Totally! He had bugs to talk to after all! Plus his parents had always found him if he got lost before so it wasn't really like being alone right? More like kidnapped in fact!

"Some homework is cool! A lot of it is boring though. I bet I get better grades than him though!" Totally! How could he not?

Sheena thought back to the test that her and her companions had taken in Palmacosta's Academy.

"Considering out of a test of 400 he got 25, I would tend to believe that you're right."

"Whoooooaaaaaaaaah," he drawled, impressed at that. "That's like...totally an F. That's less than twenty-five percent so no teacher would pass that! In fact that like...hang on, decimals are kind hard in my head. Twelve and a half percent? Did he get kicked out of school?! I don't know anyone that's scored that low and I know a kid that chews on chairs!"

"Well, he wasn't really a good student, but his teacher was his best friend's mother so she sort of took a bit of ease on him. And of course, he saved the world so everyone gives him that credit. Street smarts over book smarts I say."

"...but everyone's done that." Really, saving the world was kinda the thing? "You still gotta know how to do your taxes and who the president is and why you don't usually bleed green and stuff!"

Sheena looked at the kid, cocking her head with a small frown.

"I don't know what it's like where you're from, but where I'm from, people don't save the world everyday. There is a designated person to save it, called the Chosen. If one fails, another is born and given the chance to save the world. They live either long enough to fail, or to see the world reborn. Lloyd helped Colette, his world's Chosen, and Zelos, my world's idiot Chosen, to save the world."

"...that's dumb," he noted. "What if there's more than one thing going on that can end the world? Or it's across the world and not really waiting for them? Why can't the people there just handle it?"

Wait, waaaait. "You're from two worlds? Do you commute?"

"Because that's not the way the worlds work. A Chosen saves the world, and that is it."

She sighed and looked back.

"Yes, two worlds. Tethe'alla and Sylvarant. They used to exist side by side but unable to touch. We united the worlds so they are one now."

"Umm....most worlds work a different way? Just saying." That was a really dumb way to handle realities! Rules were rules sure but something as big as a planet should have something a bit more stable!

"...dude. Did they like morph in to one planet? Did they merge? What happened when one world had a street named Bob and the other world had the same street named Novak? Did it become Novabob?"

Sheena's face turned to a mask of confusion but she shook her head and took a deep breath.

"The veil between the worlds was ripped down and they were merged. It was as if the two landmasses contorted together. Part of the world was still Sylvarant, part was Tethe'alla. But they weren't separate anymore."

"So kinda like dinosaur times? When lands smashed together and made mountains and volcanoes? Volcanoes are cool, did you get any?"

"Does a fire temple in the middle of the desert count?"

Sheena grinned and thought.

"There was lava and fire..."

"Does it blow up sometimes?" That would totally count as a volcano right? Maybe!

"There is a Summon Spirit inside named Efreet that keeps it from getting out of hand," she informed the boy.

"I made a pact with him."

"...ohhhh, you're like Ms. Imperia!" That was a whole different basket of weird really. Magic stuff had different, and weird rules! "Was it the good kind of pact or the bad kind? Does he like have your heart now and you've got lava inside or something as proof you guys traded?"

"No, nothing like that. I just promised that I would use his power for good. If I break that vow, the pact between us is broken."

She didn't even ask who this Imperia person was but assumed it was someone the child knew.

"Do...you want me to summon him so you can see for yourself?"
